Stainless Steel Turnbuckles

A turnbuckle is an adjustable tensioning assembly. Rotating its body draws the two threaded ends together or moves them apart to tension or adjust wire rope, cable or connected hardware.

A jaw uses a removable pin between two cheeks. An eye is a closed loop for a compatible pin or shackle. A hook allows quick attachment but is less captive than a jaw or eye. A toggle is a pivoting end fitting that helps accommodate angular alignment.

Stubs and studs provide threaded or fixed mounting ends instead of a jaw, eye or hook. Their thread, diameter, length and mounting method must match the body and the installation.

A swage turnbuckle has an end fitting that is permanently compressed onto wire rope or cable. Match it to the exact cable diameter and construction, and use the specified swaging tool and procedure.

An open body exposes the threaded ends and makes visual inspection straightforward. A closed body encloses more of the threads for a compact appearance and reduced snagging. Selection also depends on adjustment range, dimensions and load requirements.

A standard turnbuckle normally uses one left-hand threaded end and one right-hand threaded end. This lets the body move both ends simultaneously without twisting the cable. The thread size and direction must match the body.

Only when the thread standard, diameter, direction, material, dimensions and published specifications are confirmed compatible. Similar-looking components are not automatically interchangeable.
